KWICK HOUSE Timber building kits

permitted-development

In England, permitted development lets a householder put up some buildings without applying for planning permission, as long as the size, position and use of the building stay within set limits.

About the journal

What the journal is for

What it covers

Six topics have a section each: planning and regulations, bases and groundwork, walls and insulation, timber care, size and plot, and running a glamping business. Floor plans come up too, without a section of their own. Each topic sticks to timber garden buildings and the kits we sell, and to the questions people ask, such as which base suits the ground or what insulation changes.

Why it is here

A kit leaves part of the job with you: the base, the unloading and the assembly. The journal is here so you can plan that part before you order, know what the kit price covers and what it does not, and be ready for the day the lorry arrives. Once the building is up, the journal covers looking after the timber through the seasons.

How it is written

Product details match the product pages, and figures that are not on those pages, thermal values among them, are not added or guessed. Rules on planning and building control are linked to the official source, such as the Planning Portal or legislation.gov.uk. For your own site, ask your local planning authority, usually the council. Articles are added one at a time, and a topic links to them once they are published.
